Countless children and teens have dropped out of school due to factors such as relocation, deterioration of learning facilities, and lower home income.
As a result of problems such as reduced government allocations to the education sector and a loss of quality teaching staff owing to displacement, the quality of education for youth in schools has deteriorated.
Internally displaced individuals (IDPs), girls, and children living with disabilities (CLWD) have discovered that the conditions necessary to facilitate their participation in education, such as remedial classes, separate latrines, and the construction of safe learning environments, are frequently lacking.
Water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in safe and child-friendly schools improves health, raises educational achievement, promotes gender equity, and positively influences communities. Most schools in developing nations, on the other hand, lack even the most basic water and sanitation facilities, and hygiene instruction programs are frequently insufficient. ETNG, is working to close these gaps by focusing more on WASH in Schools advocacy and programming.
ETNG targets schools to educate adolescent students on specific nutrition actions and messages that will have a longer-term impact through education, such as reducing micronutrient deficiency and anaemia, increasing school enrollment and attendance, and improving cognitive and academic performance.
ETNG implements health education that gives children the knowledge, attitudes, skills, and experiences to eat correctly and exercise regularly. In addition, children are encouraged to care for themselves and community members as part of an ETNG approach to health education that encourages them to work together to enhance their education and health.
